Privacy Policy

Introduction
DeepAnchor Studio LLC is committed to protecting your privacy. AskScripture helps you and your family explore Scripture with answers personalized to your faith background. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, the third-party processors that receive it, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights you have — including how to delete your account and all associated data from within the app.
Sensitive information. Your denomination, faith background, and religious questions are religious beliefs, which Apple's privacy taxonomy classifies as Sensitive Information. We treat this data accordingly: it is never sold, is shared with AI processors only after your explicit in-app consent, and is excluded from our server logs (see "Logging" below).
1. Who We Are
AskScripture is operated by DeepAnchor Studio LLC. For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact us at support@deepanchorstudio.com. This inbox is monitored.
2. Information We Collect
Account & Identity (via Clerk)
We use Clerk as our authentication provider. When you sign in with Apple or Google, Clerk creates and manages your account identity — your user ID, the email address associated with your sign-in, and authentication tokens. We do not store your social-login password; that is handled entirely by Apple, Google, and Clerk.
Profile & Personalization (via Firestore)
To personalize answers, you may provide a first name, your denomination, and a short description of your faith background. This information is stored in Google Firestore, associated with your Clerk user ID.
Children's Profiles (via Firestore)
As a parent or guardian, you may create child profiles — typically a child's first name and age or reading level — so answers can be tailored to a child. This data is provided by you, stored under your account, and used only to personalize answers for your family. You can edit or delete it, and deleting your account removes all child profiles you created. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children.
Questions, Answers & Voice
When you ask a question by text or voice, the app processes your question and generates an answer. Your questions and the answers may be stored under your account so you can revisit them. Voice questions are captured as audio for transcription (see AI processors below).
Diagnostics & Telemetry (via Sentry)
We use Sentry to capture crash reports and performance telemetry so we can fix bugs and keep the app stable. Sentry receives technical event data such as error messages, stack traces, device model, OS version, and a user or session identifier. We configure our integrations to avoid sending the contents of your questions, your faith details, or children's names to Sentry.
3. Third-Party AI Processors and the Data They Receive
Personalized answers and voice conversations require sending some of your information to trusted third-party AI processors. Before any personal data leaves your device for these purposes, the app presents an explicit first-run consent screen naming each processor and the exact data it receives. Nothing is sent until you agree, and you may decline.

These processors act on our behalf under their respective data-processing terms. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your religious or children's data for advertising.
4. Logging
Our server-side functions keep operational logs to diagnose problems. These logs are deliberately scrubbed of Sensitive Information:
- Children's names, faith background, and the verbatim text of your questions are not written to server logs.
- Instead of your raw account ID, logs record a one-way hashed identifier of the form
uid_followed by a 12-character SHA-256 prefix (for exampleuid_1a2b3c4d5e6f), which lets us correlate a user's requests for debugging without exposing your identity.
One partial identifier caveat. Live voice sessions run in a LiveKit "room" whose name includes the first 8 characters of your raw account identifier. That room name can appear in operational logs. This means voice-session logs may contain a partial, opaque room identifier derived from your account ID, rather than only the fully hashed identifier described above. It is a truncated fragment, not your full account ID, email, or any faith or profile content. We are tracking this to further reduce identifiers in room names.
5. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure (Clerk).
- To personalize answers to your and your children's faith context.
- To generate answers to your text and voice questions (Azure OpenAI, LiveKit, Azure Speech).
- To store your profile, children's profiles, and question history so the app works across sessions (Firestore).
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability (Sentry, scrubbed server logs).
6. Data Sharing
We share data only with the processors named above (Clerk, Google Firestore, Sentry, Azure OpenAI, LiveKit, Azure Speech), each acting on our behalf to provide the service. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share your religious beliefs or children's data with advertisers. We may disclose information if required by law.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account, profile, children's profiles, and question history for as long as your account exists. Scrubbed operational logs are retained for a limited period for debugging and then rotated out. When you delete your account, your account data and stored content are deleted (see below).
8. Your Choices and Rights — Deleting Your Account and Data
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app: go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This removes your Clerk identity, your Firestore profile, your children's profiles, and your stored questions and answers. You can also decline AI data-sharing consent, which keeps your data on-device for the features that allow it. To exercise any other privacy right, contact support@deepanchorstudio.com.
9. Children's Privacy
AskScripture is intended to be used by adults and by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Child profiles are created and managed by the adult account holder. If you believe a child has provided us information without parental involvement, contact support@deepanchorstudio.com and we will delete it. Deleting the parent account deletes all associated child profiles.
10. Data Security
Data in transit is encrypted using industry-standard TLS. Authentication is handled by Clerk. Access to stored data is restricted to the operation of the service.
11. International Processing
Our processors (including Microsoft Azure, Google, Clerk, Sentry, and LiveKit) may process data in the United States and other regions. By using the app you consent to this processing.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
